At the pituitary, the peptide binds the growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor on somatotroph cells. Receptor activation raises intracellular cyclic AMP and triggers release of stored growth hormone. Somatostatin and other hypothalamic signals modulate this response. Negative feedback from insulin-like growth factor 1 also influences output. The same regulatory architecture operates with the native hormone. Whether the synthetic analog alters feedback dynamics over repeated exposure remains an open question. Most published receptor work uses cell models rather than intact human systems.
CJC-1295 is a synthetic peptide belonging to the growth hormone-releasing hormone analog family. It comprises twenty-nine amino acid residues derived from the N-terminal region of natural GHRH. The molecule incorporates several non-natural substitutions that increase resistance to enzymatic degradation. These modifications extend its activity compared with the native hormone fragment. Researchers use it to study pituitary growth hormone secretion in laboratory and clinical settings. This compound is distinct from native GHRH in its stability profile.
Two principal forms appear in the literature and in research supply. One carries a drug affinity complex, a maleimide-based group that forms a covalent bond with circulating albumin. This linkage slows clearance and produces a long-lasting elevation of peptide levels. The other form lacks that group and is often labeled MOD GRF(1-29). It has a much shorter circulation time. Both variants retain the same core receptor-binding sequence. Reported half-lives differ substantially between the two.
The second form adds a maleimide-bearing linker to the lysine at the carboxyl end. This group reacts with cysteine-34 on circulating serum albumin, forming a covalent bond that keeps the peptide in the bloodstream for far longer. ConjuChem developed the molecule as a way to extend the action of a peptide without frequent administration. The albumin attachment is the defining structural feature of the drug affinity complex version. Whether continuous exposure produces effects distinct from shorter pulses remains an unresolved research question.
| Property | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Molecular weight, DAC form | About 3647 Da | Varies with salt form |
| Molecular weight, non-DAC form | About 3358 Da | MOD GRF(1-29) |
| Solubility class | Water soluble | Also dissolves in polar solvents |
| Reported half-life, DAC form | About five to eight days | Values from human studies |
| Common synonyms | CJC-1295; MOD GRF(1-29) | Name depends on variant |
Both forms act at the pituitary receptor for growth hormone-releasing hormone and increase growth hormone output, which in turn raises insulin-like growth factor 1. A long-acting analog produces sustained rather than pulsatile stimulation, and the physiological consequences of that pattern are not fully settled. Published human data on the extended form remain limited, and much of what circulates in discussion traces to early company reports rather than independent replication. How sustained exposure affects normal feedback remains an open question.
The distinguishing feature of the DAC form is a maleimide-containing group that reacts with the free thiol of cysteine-34 on human serum albumin. This reaction forms a covalent bond without enzymatic assistance, and it takes place after the peptide enters the bloodstream. Because albumin is abundant and long-lived, the attached peptide is carried through circulation far longer than an unmodified fragment would survive. The chemistry is a deliberate pharmacokinetic strategy rather than a change to receptor activity.
Reported half-lives differ widely between the two variants and between species. Values for the albumin-binding form are usually expressed in days, while the unconjugated form is measured in minutes to a few hours. Sampling schedules, assay sensitivity, and route of administration all influence the numbers, which limits direct comparison across studies. Whether sustained receptor occupancy produces different downstream effects from pulsatile stimulation remains an open question in the published work. Claims about relative potency should therefore be read alongside the specific study design that produced them.
Lyophilised powder is the usual supplied form. The material is hygroscopic, so vials are typically equilibrated to room temperature before opening in order to prevent condensation on the contents. Long-term storage is generally described at minus twenty degrees Celsius or colder, protected from light and moisture. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles are avoided because they promote aggregation and loss of soluble material. A reconstituted solution is considerably less stable than the dry powder and is normally kept refrigerated for short periods only.
Civil and criminal cases filed in the United States against UCC and Warren Anderson, chief executive officer of the UCC at the time of the disaster, were dismissed and redirected to Indian courts on multiple occasions between 1986 and 2012, as the US courts focused on UCIL being a standalone entity of India. Civil and criminal cases were also filed in the District Court of Bhopal, India, involving UCC, UCIL, and Anderson. In June 2010, seven Indian nationals who were UCIL employees in 1984, including the former UCIL chairman Keshub Mahindra, were convicted in Bhopal of causing death by negligence and sentenced to two years' imprisonment and a fine of about $2,000 each, the maximum punishment allowed by Indian law. All were released on bail shortly after the verdict. An eighth former employee was also convicted, but died before the judgement was passed.
== Activation == Some, but not all, carboxypeptidases are initially produced in an inactive form; this precursor form is referred to as a procarboxypeptidase. In the case of pancreatic carboxypeptidase A, the inactive zymogen form - pro-carboxypeptidase A - is converted to its active form - carboxypeptidase A - by the enzyme trypsin. This mechanism ensures that the acinar cells wherein pro-carboxypeptidase A is produced are not themselves digested.
While slavery had technically been banned by colonial France in French West Africa (including Mauritania) already in 1905, this had been a purely nominal ban. The 1981 ban on slavery was not enforced in practice, as legal mechanisms to prosecute those who used slaves were not implemented until 2007.

=== Robin Williamson === Robin Williamson (Jonjo O'Neill) is the chief communications officer at Tender, assisting Whitney in pivoting the company into banking. During the launch of Tender's banking app, Robin clashes with Yasmin over their dueling PR strategies, with Robin preferring a more traditional rollout via tech publications and podcasts, while Yasmin seeks to capitalize on Henry Muck's profile as CEO by booking him a keynote speech. Yasmin's approach wins over Whitney, who promotes Yasmin to head of communications and fires Robin, deeming him too traditional and risk-averse.
Bukele's popularity as mayor of San Salvador led some journalists to believe that he would run for president in 2019, but he denied that he would. He eventually expressed interest in running for president with the FMLN, but the party did not consider him as its vice-presidential nominee. He wrote on social media that the FMLN had purged him, and portrayed himself as an independent politician who rejected the country's political system. On 15 October 2017, Bukele announced his intention to run for president in 2019 and form a new political party. He announced the establishment of the Nuevas Ideas party on 25 October 2017 on social media, saying that Nuevas Ideas would seek to remove ARENA and the FMLN from power. During his presidential campaign, Bukele and a network of YouTubers, bloggers, and internet trolls attempted to discredit ARENA and the FMLN. Bukele tried to associate the two parties with the governments of previous presidents that were marred by corruption, using slogans such as "There's enough money when nobody steals" and "Return what was stolen". His campaign promises included the creation of an international commission to combat corruption, the development of a trans-national railroad and a new airport, job opportunities for Salvadorans, and reduced crime.
In high school football, Lahainaluna High School and Paradise High School host a football game known as the Unity Bowl in Maui to bring both communities together. Both communities were devastated by the 2018 Camp Fire and 2023 Hawaii wildfires, respectively. September 6 A measles outbreak in Pennsylvania, concentrated in Lancaster County's Mennonite communities, becomes the nation's largest outbreak, with 577 cases statewide and 246 confirmed in the county; state officials had reported two measles-associated deaths in Lancaster County in August, Pennsylvania's first since 1991. At least five people are killed in an Amazon Air cargo aircraft crash at Miami International Airport. September 8 – Former president Joe Biden announces that the radiation treatment he received for prostate cancer last fall "worked as intended" and that doctors helped in disease control. September 9 The US announces that it destroyed five Iranian tankers in retaliation to additional attempted missile attacks on one of its Navy warships. The price of oil exceeds $100 per barrel for the first time since July. Trump promises a $5,000 "Trump dividend" to every adult US citizen if the Republican Party retains control of both chambers of Congress in the November midterm elections. The proposal, which could cost $1.3 trillion and would require congressional approval, raises legal questions because the payments are conditional on a Republican electoral victory.
== Health concerns == Uranium emits alpha radiation, so external exposure has limited effect. Significant internal exposure to tiny particles of uranium or its decay products, such as thorium-230, radium-226 and radon-222, can cause severe health effects, such as cancer of the bone or liver. Uranium is also chemically toxic, meaning that ingestion of uranium can cause kidney damage from its chemical properties much sooner than its radioactive properties would cause cancers of the bone or liver.

=== Diagnostic uses === Diagnostic qualitative PCR is applied to rapidly detect nucleic acids that are diagnostic of, for example, infectious diseases, cancer and genetic abnormalities. The introduction of qualitative PCR assays to the clinical microbiology laboratory has significantly improved the diagnosis of infectious diseases, and is deployed as a tool to detect newly emerging diseases, such as new strains of flu and coronavirus, in diagnostic tests.
== Measurement == 3-phosphoglycerate can be separated and measured using paper chromatography as well as with column chromatography and other chromatographic separation methods. It can be identified using both gas-chromatography and liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry and has been optimized for evaluation using tandem MS techniques.
=== Part Two === Part Two begins some time before Part One, taking place somewhere before the chapter Anticitizen One during the final events of Half-Life 2. During the battle for City 17, a Russian Resistance member (Julia Tourianski) is about to be killed by CP officers when the third Resistance member (David Purchase), who was only heard in a radio transmission during Part One, saves her by killing the officers. At first, she doesn't trust him, but after partnering up together to survive the battle, they become closer to each other. At one point in the film, they kiss in an abandoned restroom after destroying a Combine Strider. Sometime later, David gives Julia a present: a 9mm pistol with the slogan "Never Gone" written on the side. She starts to weep, because she hadn't been "given a gift in over a decade." Soon after, the final events of Half-Life 2, as well as the chapters Undue Alarm and Direct Intervention of Episode One, come to pass, and the Citadel's dark energy reactor begins to enter meltdown. However, Gordon Freeman's actions delay the reaction long enough to allow citizens and Resistance members alike to escape City 17. David and Julia decide to leave the city as well. After reaching the old canals and combating zombies, the first two Resistance members from Part One, Derek and Ian, finally catch up with the duo. As they walk together, they talk about Freeman's actions within the Citadel. Suddenly, David is shot in the neck by a CP officer. As the other two members fire back at the incoming Combine soldiers, David dies in Julia's arms.
== Accidents == Ethylene oxide is extremely flammable, and its mixtures with air are explosive. When heated it may rapidly expand, causing fire and explosion. Several industrial accidents have been attributed to ethylene oxide explosion. The autoignition temperature is 429 °C (804 °F), decomposition temperature of 571 °C (1,060 °F) at 101.3 kPa (14.69 psi), minimum inflammable content in the air is 2.7%, and maximum limit is 100%. The NFPA 704 rating is Health, 3; Flammability, 4; Instability 2. Ethylene oxide in presence of water can hydrolyze to ethylene glycol and form polyethylene oxide, which then eventually is oxidized by air and leads to hotspots that can trigger explosive decomposition. Fires caused by ethylene oxide are extinguished with conventional media including foam, carbon dioxide, or water. Suppression of this activity can be done by blanketing with an inert gas until total pressure reaches the nonexplosive range. Extinguishing of burning ethylene oxide is complicated by its ability to continue burning in an inert atmosphere and in water solutions. Fire suppression is reached only upon dilution with water above 22:1.

It is a synthetic peptide modeled on growth hormone-releasing hormone. The molecule is used in research on pituitary growth hormone secretion. It differs from the natural hormone through several stabilizing substitutions.
The DAC form carries a maleimide group that binds albumin and extends circulation time. The non-DAC form lacks this group and clears much faster. Both share the same receptor-binding core.
It targets the growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells. Activation raises cyclic AMP and promotes growth hormone release. Normal feedback pathways remain part of the response.
A maleimide moiety reacts with the thiol of cysteine-34, forming a covalent bond. The reaction occurs in circulation without enzymatic catalysis.
